New patients always start with the first assessment. Returning patients can book directly: "Állkapocs manuálterápia (cranio és temporo mandibularis)" in Salonic (opens in a new tab).
Jaw joint problems (medically, temporomandibular disorder or TMD) are common. The jaw may hurt in front of the ear, click or pop when you open your mouth, the chewing muscles may tire, and the head or neck often hurts as well. Daytime clenching, night-time grinding or a tense neck and shoulder area often keep the problem going.
Most jaw joint problems do not need surgery and respond well to conservative care: manual therapy, targeted exercises and changing habits. Jaw manual therapy complements dental and orthodontic treatment rather than replacing it; a night splint, for example, is made by your dentist.
The first visit starts with a jaw joint assessment. The therapist checks how your jaw opens and moves, the state of your chewing muscles, and whether your neck and head posture play a part. The treatment's name (cranio- and temporomandibular) means it looks not only at the joint itself but also at how the skull, jaw and neck work together.
The hands-on work targets the chewing muscles and the area around the joint. In the MozgásKlinika approach manual therapy is followed by active exercise: you learn how to relax your jaw during the day and which exercises to do at home so the change lasts.
We also recommend this treatment for tinnitus that comes with jaw joint problems. With tinnitus, see an ear, nose and throat specialist first. If the ringing changes when you move your jaw or neck and you also have jaw joint problems, treatment may help, but we cannot promise that the tinnitus will stop.
Treatment starts at your first visit, straight after the assessment.
At the first 50-minute visit: your history, how your jaw opens and moves, and a check of the chewing muscles and neck. Bring any dental or oral surgery reports you have.
We discuss what may be keeping the problem going and how often treatment makes sense. If you also need a dental or medical check, we tell you.
Follow-up 50-minute sessions combine hands-on treatment with exercises, and you get exercises to do at home.
On level 1 of the MozgásPiramis® (pain relief and better circulation), manual therapy is one of the main tools. Jaw manual therapy is its form adapted to the jaw joint, followed by active exercise.

At MozgásKlinika Újlipótváros jaw manual therapy is provided by Anna Szőke, physiotherapist, so online bookings for it go to her.
No referral is needed. We ask for an oral surgery or gnathology consultation first if your jaw hurts after an accident, if you have an inflamed jaw joint or a locked jaw, or if a tumour is suspected. With clenching and grinding it is worth working alongside your dentist.
The first visit, which starts with a jaw joint assessment, lasts 50 minutes and costs 24,990 HUF. Follow-up jaw manual therapy sessions are also 50 minutes, at 24,990 HUF.
Nobody can promise this in advance: it depends on the cause and on how you respond to treatment. After the jaw joint assessment you get a realistic plan.
Yes. We also recommend the treatment for jaw problems during orthodontic treatment, alongside your orthodontist's care.
We cannot promise that. If the tinnitus comes with jaw joint problems and changes when you move your jaw or neck, treatment may help. See an ear, nose and throat specialist first.
